Presentations about "Predispositions and exercise-induced plasticity in the human brain" at MPI and Uni Konstanz
Marco presented the groups research on „Predispositions and exercise-induced plasticity in the human brain“ at Max-Planck-Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (Prof. Villringer) and the Institute of Sport Science at University Konstanz (Prof. Gruber).
New MRI study on training-induced neuroplasticity in elderly participants started recently
A new MRI study on training-induced neuroplasticity in elderly participants started recently. We are happy to announce the start of our main MRI study of the CRC C01 sub-project. The study is conducted in collaboration with the Neurology Clinic at the Medical Campus (Director: Prof. Aiden Haghikia). Nisha Prabhu and Martin Matke (both PhD’s of C01) are responsible for this longitudinal training study. Not to be neglected, they receive valuable support from our team of student assistants including Christoph Klötzer, Henriette Kramer, Naemi Ristl, Johannes Riedel and Lukas Baldauf.
Marco accepted a position as Vice Dean for Research and Gender Equality at FHW-OvGU.

Nisha and Nico presented their research on transcranial brain stimulation and neuroplasticity at ASP in Münster
Nisha Prabhu and Nico Lehmann presented their research on „Role of Prefrontal Cortex in Motor Learning and its Associated Cognitive Transfer“ (Nisha) and „Characterizing Learning-Related White Matter Plasticity With Advanced Diffusion MRI“ (Nico) at ASP meeting in Münster (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Sportpsychologie).
The collaborative research center 1436 on "Neural resources of cognition" (funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) has a new website.
This is the new website of our CRC 1436 project.
Nico presented his work on the effect of training distribution on peak performance at ECSS in Sevilla
Nico Lehmann presented his work on „RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING VARIABLES AND ENDURANCE PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT IN RECREATIONAL MALE CYCLISTS“ at ECSS (European College of Sport Science) in Sevilla.
Marco gave a lecture on structural MRI of the brain during the CRC workshop "Advanced MRI methods"
Marco gave a lecture on „Structural MRI: plasticity and brain-behavioral relationships“ during the CRC workshop „Advanced MRI methods“. The workshop was organized by the IRTG of our CRC 1436.

New Collaborative Research Center on "Neural Resources of Cognition" (SFB 1436) funded by DFG.
The DFG will fund a new Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1436) on „Neural Resources of Cognition“. Our group is involved in the SFB-project C01 on „Dynamic modelling of training-induced, response-optimized mobilization of neural resources“. We will perform this project together with Dr. Gabriel Ziegler from the Institute for Cognitive Neurology & Dementia Research.
New Funding: Our group receives intramural funding for a new project on in-vivo MR imaging of training-induced brain changes in animals (in collaboration with the Leibniz-Institute for Neurobiology).
The OvGU will fund a new project on small-animal MR imaging of training-induced brain plasticity. We closely collaborate with PD Dr. Eike Budinger and Patricia Wenk from the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (AG Funktionelle Neuroanatomie & Kleintier-MRT).
